Celebrated each December at Kisama Heritage Village near Kohima, the Hornbill Festival unites Nagaland’s tribes in a spectacular showcase of folk dances, warrior chants, indigenous sports, and traditional cuisine. Named after the revered hornbill bird in Naga folklore, it’s called the “Festival of Festivals” for its scale, cultural depth, and night carnivals.

Day 1 — Arrive Dimapur, Drive to Kohima
Meet on arrival at Dimapur Airport/Railway and drive ~3 hours to Kohima. Check in, unwind, and explore local cafés/market lanes; time permitting, visit the Cathedral or WWII Cemetery; overnight in Kohima.

Day 2 — Hornbill Festival at Kisama
Full day at Kisama Heritage Village for cultural performances, morung visits, indigenous games, and Naga kitchens. Sample smoked meats, bamboo‑shoot dishes, and rice beer; enjoy the evening night‑carnival vibe; overnight in Kohima.

Day 3 — Kohima Local & Departure
Optional morning return to the festival for last‑minute shopping. Post breakfast, visit Khonoma green village or markets as time allows; transfer back to Dimapur for onward journey.
